… but it might have been better if they had kept their mouth shut.
As I left work today, I was talking to one of the other guys. He and I were the last ones to leave the department. He told me how much he appreciated the organization and time I had put into the power transfer project. He said he had submitted me for an ‘E Reward’ (special 1 time bonus your fellow employees elect you to get). The boss told him he cancelled it because he wanted to do something for the whole department. Great!? Not really! This all took place almost two months ago.
I really didn’t need to hear that. I have some issues with how my boss does certain things when it comes to my position as it is. This is just another ember burning under my skin. I won’t mention that I have had my fill of the bigotry and sexism from certain members of my department. I also won’t mention that I’m to the point where I put my headphones on and turn the volume up when they start ranting about all the problems that go on within our company.
Yes, there are problems. I won’t dispute that. However, they are minute in comparison to problems I’ve seen at other company’s I’ve worked for in the past. When you go to the bank and the teller laughs when you pull up because she knows there is no money in the company account to pay you with, there’s a problem! When you call up the boss to tell them the bank won’t cash your paycheck and you leave the office with two-weeks pay in quarters (yes, the little silver shiney things that you put in the vending machine), THERE’S A PROBLEM.
Having the name of your department or division changed because they are moving bigshots around in the corporate office is NOT a problem. That is an inconvenience. You might actually have to look up someone in the directory because their phone number changed, oooOOOOOOoooo.
The last month or so has been really up beat for my personal life. I have finally started feeling good about myself. I’ve started to become more annoyed with the petty whining, no petty BITCHING, that goes on all day long in our office. I just don’t understand why some people are never happy that they are working full-time and have a better than average paying job for this area. Oh well.
That is the end of my rant for tonight. I’ll go back to being my happy-go-lucky self for the rest of the evening I guess. Thanks for reading.
